The Sunset Valley Teen Commission is a grassroots organization formed by teens in Sunset Valley, Texas to advocate for projects (and speak out about issues) within the City of Sunset Valley that are important to kids within our community.

Our first project was to organize Sunset Valley kids to recruit and help Google Fiber finish installation of fiber within the City of Sunset Valley. We desperately needed Google Fiber for school and after-school activities, which became clear during the Covid-19 quarantine period, as many of us had to use spotty internet for both school and after-school activities. With so many activities transitioning to virtual meetings, the kids of Sunset Valley needed more reliable internet service. The areas surrounding Sunset Valley have had access to Google Fiber for a long time. Our little city was a fiber desert and we worked hard to encourage Google Fiber to bring us the connectivity that we need and to press the city to approve relevant permits.
